New Zealand is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Its mountains are "majestic hallelujahs", its wilderness is lush and bountiful, its rivers oscillate between violent savagery and placid serenity. New Zealand is a place to which the world comes to be inspired.

Kelly Barber had always intended to go and see it, but like so many of his countrymen he "just never got around to it". A chance meeting with a Swedish backpacker reminded him of what he was missing and with little more than a grand idea, a reluctant companion and a gnawing desire for an adventure, Barber set off to see what all the fuss was about. Along the way he came across an eclectic disarray of hiking pilgrims and finally got to see his own country up close and personal.

Ticking Off the Icons follows on from Barber's enormously popular book Conquering The Coast To Coast and is written in the same simple style that will have you laughing, entertained and possibly even inspired enough to want to get out there and see it all for yourself.
