Marina Marks has made a living bilking money from the innocent and na ve as a tarot card-toting psychic. While living in Florida, she earns the trust of an old woman who believes that the fate of her son is connected to a beautiful ruby ring. She believes the ring will keep her son safe, as long as it is in Marina's possession. After a spate of disturbing events involving her neighbours in Florida, Marina relocates to Southern California, taking the ring and her savings with her. She settles in with a new set of regular clients. There she meets Gideon - the rugged, flannel-shirt type whom she can't read and who sweeps her off her feet. But Gideon is on the hunt for someone - a psychic - who allegedly duped his mother out her life savings and who made off with her most prized possession - a ruby ring. The real trouble starts when Marina wakes up one day, suddenly able to truly see visions of future events and hear voices from beyond the grave. Cosmic retribution takes on a whole new meaning as Marina struggles to save those closest to her when her powers become more than she can handle.
