Frontier Of Dreams LIMITED EDITION

NZ Non Fiction

Limited Edition with slipcase. This comprehensive, illustrated, single-volume history is a landmark publication that explores the story of our nation. "Frontier of Dreams" has been written by leading historians from the Ministry for Culture and Heritage's History Group. Accessibly written, it tells the story of dreams, struggles, conflicts, tragedies and successes of our forebears. In "Frontier of Dreams" you will meet not only the 'greats' of the past - Wakefield, Vogel, Seddon, Ngata, Sheppard, Savage, Muldoon - but also less well-known Kiwis: Victorian factory workers, the slum tenants of Dunedin's 'Devil's Half Acre', the Oamaru fish hawker, athletes and home makers. The book is lavishly illustrated using a selection of timelines, panels, maps, photographs, plus rarely seen historical artworks, many from private collections. Printed in full colour, it has over 450 images from more than 80 different sources throughout New Zealand and abroad. This publication enhances the profile of one of TVNZ's flagship programmes of the same name. 13 one-hour documentary episodes will screen during prime-time viewing. The historical framework was created for the TV series by high-profile historians, such as Professor Anne Salmond, Dr Ranginui Walker, Dr Claudia Orange and Professor Erik Olssen, in conjunction with those from the Ministry for Culture and Heritage. This series has taken over five years to produce and has been given a multi-million dollar production budget. There will also be an interactive website, a DVD and curriculum-linked school resources.
