In the not too distant future, Pioneers who evolve to survive in hostile environments populate the universe. But a cataclysmic event back on Earth, resulting in widespread sterility, provokes a desperate search for viable breeding stock. Tasked to bring the last Pioneer back home are Angelo and Ariadne: adapted humans, magnificent and powerful creatures. The final Pioneer rescue brings Angelo and his crew back to a post-Catastrophe New Zealand. Angelo questions their programming and as he makes the ultimate sacrifice to provide his humanity in order to protect the future of 'human-kind'. Product Information

Phillip Mann was born in Yorkshire in 1942. He studied English and Drama at Manchester University and later in California. He worked for the New China News Agency in Beijing for two years, but since 1969 has lived principally in New Zealand, where he held the position of Professor of drama at Victoria University, Wellington, until he retired in 1998. He also worked as a professional theatre director with a special interest in directing new plays, the classics and the works of Brecht.
